BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 30. The US Embassy in Azerbaijan has congratulated Azerbaijani judoka Hidayat Heydarov on his victory at the Olympics in Paris, the publication of the US Embassy on X said, TurkicWorld reports.
"Congratulations, Hidayat Heydarov, on winning the gold medal! Your dedication and hard work have truly paid off. Enjoy this incredible achievement - it is a testament to your talent and perseverance. And congratulations to the Azerbaijani team—here's to many more successes and gold medals ahead!" - the publication reads.
To note, the day before Azerbaijani judoka Hidayat Heydarov became the winner of the Summer Olympics in Paris.
The Azerbaijani athlete, competing in the weight category up to 73 kg, won a gold medal, defeating Frenchman Jean-Benjamin Gaba in the final.
Hidayat Heydarov, who started the fight in the 1/8 finals, defeated Tohar Butbul (Israel) at this stage. In the 1/4 finals, he beat Arthur Margelidon (Canada), and in the semifinals - Akila Gjakova (Kosovo).
To note, Heydarov won the first Olympics of his career.
