US Embassy thanks Azerbaijan for contribution to fight against global terrorism

BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 11. The US Embassy in Azerbaijan has expressed gratitude to Azerbaijan for its contribution to the joint fight against global terrorism.

The embassy said its staff gathered on September 11 to commemorate the nearly 3,000 people who lost their lives in the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, and their aftermath.

The embassy said the gathering honoured the victims and their families, as well as first responders who courageously confronted the unprecedented threat and everyone whose lives were permanently changed by the tragedy.

It also recalled the solidarity shown by Azerbaijan and many other countries with the United States following the attacks.

The embassy noted that US and Azerbaijani military personnel served side by side as part of coalition forces in Afghanistan.

“America and Azerbaijan have stood shoulder to shoulder in the fight against global terrorism,” the embassy said, expressing appreciation for Azerbaijan’s contribution to those joint efforts.

The embassy added that 25 years ago terrorists attacked the United States in an attempt to threaten the American way of life, but failed to break the spirit of the American people.
