Turkish Film Week opened as part of Bishkek International Film Festival

Bishkek, Nov. 20, 2023. / Kabar/. The Turkish Cinema Week opened at the Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University as part of the Bishkek International Film Festival dedicated to the 95th anniversary of Kyrgyz writer Chingiz Aitmatov.

The opening was attended by First Deputy Minister of Culture, Information, Sports and Youth Policy of the Kyrgyz Republic Timurlan Azhymaliev, Chairman of the festival jury Semih Kaplanoglu, Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism of Turkiye Serdar Cham, and the guest of honor - the famous Turkish actress Turkan Shoray.

As part of the event, participants were shown a film about the creative meeting of Chingiz Aitmatov with actress Turkan Shoray, who played the role of the main character in the film “Kyzyl Zhooluk Zhalzhalym” (“Selvi Boylum al Yazmalym”), filmed in Turkiye in 1977 based on the story “Delbirim” by Chingiz Aitmatov .

Next, the floor was given to First Deputy Minister Timurlan Azhymaliev, who in his speech noted that one of the most important events held within the framework of the Bishkek Film Festival will be the Turkish Film Week, invited as a guest country, where Turkish films will be presented to Kyrgyz viewers and provides an opportunity get to know the history and culture of the fraternal people better.

He also noted that the screening of the film will become a large platform for negotiations on the implementation of joint projects, which increases cooperation between film representatives of the two countries. Timurlan Azhymaliev, during the Turkish Cinema Week, thanked the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Turkiye, all parties involved in the week, and the Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University.

The opening of the Cinema Week was accompanied by the participation of the producer of the film “Akyrki Kechki Tamak” Ahmet Selim Tuncer and actress Azra Aksu.

It is worth noting that Turkish Film Week includes popular films that are loved by film lovers as well as famous Turkish films.
