Relations between Serbia, Azerbaijan develop successfully across broad co-op spectrum - minister

BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 25. The relations between Serbia and Azerbaijan are successfully developing across the whole spectrum of cooperation, Serbian Culture Minister Nikola Selaković (co-chair of the Intergovernmental Commission from Serbia) said, TurkicWorld reports.

He made the remark at the eighth session of the Intergovernmental Commission (IGC) on trade and economic cooperation between Azerbaijan and Serbia in Baku.

The co-chair of the IGC from Azerbaijan is Labor and Social Protection Minister Sahil Babayev.

During the negotiations, Selaković mentioned that relations between the two countries are developing successfully across the whole spectrum of cooperation, but there is a great growth potential, and Baku should identify opportunities for growth of business relations.

Babayev emphasized that as a result of the political will and efforts of the heads of both states, relations between Azerbaijan and Serbia are constantly developing and rising to the level of strategic partnership.

"Our countries signed the Declaration on Strategic Partnership in 2013, the Joint Action Plan on Strategic Partnership in 2018, documents on cooperation in many spheres, our relations are constantly expanding based on friendship and mutual trust. We highly appreciate the establishment of the Strategic Partnership Council between Azerbaijan and Serbia," Babayev noted.

He added that trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Serbia increased 5.24 times in six months of the current year, and 12 business forums and business meetings were held in Baku and Belgrade in the past period.

Selakovic expressed satisfaction with the constant expansion of relations between his country and Azerbaijan, based on friendly relations and mutual respect, and said that constant work is being done to further develop relations.

The sides acknowledged the potential for expanding cooperation in energy, transport and logistics, labor and social protection, agriculture, education, and tourism.
