BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 27. Nvidia plans to establish an employee-funded political action committee in the United States as the technology company seeks to increase its influence on public policy, according to a source familiar with the plans.
The new organisation will be called NVPAC, the source told Reuters.
Political action committees, commonly known as PACs, are frequently established by US companies to financially support political candidates whose positions align with their policy priorities.
Nvidia’s planned committee will be funded by employees rather than directly through the company’s corporate treasury.
The move would give Nvidia another mechanism for engaging with the US political system at a time when policies affecting artificial intelligence, semiconductors and advanced technology are receiving increased attention in Washington.
Nvidia joins other major US technology companies that have established political action committees to participate in the political process.
Meta and Google, which is owned by Alphabet, are among the technology companies with committees that make political contributions.
The creation of NVPAC reflects Nvidia’s growing engagement with US policymakers as the company has become increasingly important to the global artificial intelligence and semiconductor industries.
