BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 17. Israeli President Isaac Herzog has expressed support for ongoing efforts by a delegation from the Board of Peace to advance the next stages of a proposed Gaza plan.
Herzog said he was grateful for the delegation’s work, led by US special envoy and Donald Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner, to move forward with the implementation of Trump’s 20-point plan for Gaza.
“I was impressed that Israel’s security interests are an important and central element of their plan,” Herzog said in a post on X.
He added that he had commended and encouraged the delegation’s efforts, saying the initiative should contribute to a “brighter and more secure future” for Israel, Gaza and the wider region.
The comments come as diplomatic efforts surrounding the future of Gaza continue, with discussions focused on security arrangements, governance and the implementation of the proposed US plan.
Herzog’s remarks indicate that Israel views security guarantees as a key element in any future framework for Gaza and the broader regional settlement.
