BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 7. U.S. President Donald Trump has nominated Danielle Thumann Severs, a senior attorney at the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), to serve as one of the agency's five commissioners.
According to the White House, Severs, who currently serves as senior counsel to FCC Chairman Brendan Carr, has been nominated to fill one of the two vacant seats on the commission.
If confirmed, Severs will join the independent agency responsible for regulating the U.S. communications, broadcasting and telecommunications sectors.
Trump has repeatedly criticized several television broadcasters and has urged them to discontinue news and entertainment programs he considers unfair or politically biased. He has also called on the FCC to revoke the licenses of broadcasters he says have treated him unfairly.
The nomination comes as the FCC continues to debate media regulation and broadcasting policy in the United States.
