BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 1. The U.S. Department of Defense has signed a framework agreement with defense contractors Lockheed Martin and Northrop Grumman to expand production capacity for missile interceptor components.
The Pentagon did not disclose the financial value of the agreement.
The deal is aimed at increasing manufacturing capacity for key missile defense systems as the United States seeks to strengthen its defense industrial base.
The announcement comes amid reports from multiple sources that U.S. weapons stockpiles have come under pressure due to continued military support for Ukraine and recent operations related to the conflict involving Iran.
Neither the Defense Department nor the companies provided details on production timelines or the specific interceptor systems covered by the agreement.
