BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 31. British Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband has welcomed the announcement that Hamas will disarm, calling for the full implementation of a broader peace framework.
In a statement posted on X, Miliband said the priority should now be to fully implement the 20-Point Plan, which he said includes the withdrawal of the Israeli army from Gaza and respect for the ceasefire by all parties.
He also stressed that the humanitarian situation in Gaza remains critical.
Miliband urged Israel to immediately lift what he described as unacceptable restrictions on humanitarian aid, saying more food, medicine and other essential supplies must be allowed to reach civilians in need.
The UK has repeatedly called for the protection of civilians, increased humanitarian access and a lasting political solution to the conflict.
