BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 7. Iran’s Foreign Ministry has rejected allegations linking Tehran to various security incidents around the world, including a suspected plot near RAF Fairford in the United Kingdom.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqeai described the accusations as a “raft made of lies” and accused those making the claims of using so-called false-flag incidents to assign blame and justify subsequent actions.
“False flags are an old craft,” Baqeai said in a social media post, arguing that incidents can be manufactured and responsibility attributed to Iran without sufficient grounds.
His comments came amid growing international tensions surrounding the conflict involving Iran. Baqeai also criticized what he described as an unlawful war of aggression against Iran, saying accusations were being used to justify military action.
The remarks followed the arrest by UK police of a 22-year-old British national on suspicion of a terrorism-related offence. The arrest was connected to a security incident near RAF Fairford, an airbase that has hosted US aircraft used in military operations related to the Iran conflict.
Iran has rejected claims of involvement in the incident.
