BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 6. Azerbaijan and the United Kingdom have discussed opportunities to further develop bilateral economic cooperation, with a focus on trade, investment, business partnerships, digital economy and innovation.
Azerbaijan’s Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov met with Lord Anas Sarwar, UK Minister of State for Trade at the Department for Business and Trade and a member of the House of Lords.
The meeting focused on the current state and prospects of bilateral economic cooperation between Azerbaijan and the UK. The sides exchanged views on expanding trade and investment ties, strengthening partnerships between business communities and exploring new economic opportunities.
The officials also discussed opportunities to develop cooperation in the digital economy and innovation sectors.
The activities of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation between Azerbaijan and the UK were also reviewed, with the sides considering ways to further strengthen economic and trade relations through the commission’s framework.
The parties emphasized the importance of effectively using the existing potential to diversify bilateral economic relations, expand direct cooperation between businesses and implement new joint initiatives.
