BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 29.Iraqi President Nizar Amedi has condemned the reported Saudi-US strikes targeting the Popular Mobilisation Forces (PMF), describing the attacks as an unacceptable violation of Iraq's sovereignty.
In a statement, Amedi said the strikes constituted a "blatant violation of Iraq's sovereignty" and targeted the country's official security institutions in breach of international law and the United Nations Charter.
The Iraqi president stressed that Iraq's territory must not be used as "a launching pad or arena for attacks on neighbouring countries or for settling regional and international scores."
He called on all parties to respect Iraq's sovereignty and to avoid actions that could undermine the country's security and stability.
Amedi also emphasized the importance of preserving Iraq's independence and preventing further regional escalation.
The United States and Saudi Arabia have not immediately commented on the Iraqi president's statement.
