Trump criticises Israel’s Beirut strike ahead of Iran agreement signing

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 16. US President Donald Trump has said he disapproved of Israel’s strike on Beirut shortly before the signing of the agreement with Iran, describing the timing of the attack as inappropriate.

TurkicWorld reports that speaking to reporters, Trump said he “didn’t like” the Israeli attack on Beirut that took place roughly two hours before the agreement was signed. He added: “I let them know that. I didn’t like that, not at all.”

The comments highlight reported tensions between Washington and Tel Aviv at a sensitive moment in regional diplomacy, as the US finalised a major agreement with Iran aimed at reducing escalation risks across the Middle East.

The strike on Beirut’s southern suburbs has drawn international attention amid broader efforts to stabilise the region following months of heightened conflict involving Israel, Lebanon and Iran-linked negotiations.

Trump’s remarks suggest the United States is seeking tighter coordination with regional partners as it manages both the implementation of the Iran agreement and ongoing security incidents in the region.
