BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 20. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian is scheduled to visit Russia on October 22 to participate in the BRICS and BRICS+ summit, the head of the public relations department of the Iranian Presidential Office Habibullah Abbasi told local media, TurkicWorld reports.
Abbasi said that the Iranian president will address the upcoming BRICS and BRICS+ summit with the heads of state from member countries.
He also noted that, on the sidelines of the summit, Iran's president will engage in bilateral talks with various leaders, including Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping.
To note, BRICS, founded in 2006, is an intergovernmental organization aiming to enhance cooperation among major emerging economies. Russia assumed the BRICS chairmanship starting January 1, 2024. Currently, the organization’s membership extends beyond Russia, Brazil, India, China, and South Africa, to include newer members such as Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, the UAE, and Saudi Arabia.
