BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 14. US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth said the United States Navy is capable of maintaining its blockade of Iranian ports for as long as necessary.
“Indefinitely the United States Navy can maintain a blockade like that because we’ll rotate ships in and out, as we have, and we’ll continue to,” Hegseth told reporters.
His remarks come amid continued tensions between Washington and Tehran and the ongoing dispute over access through the Strait of Hormuz.
Hegseth indicated that the US military intends to sustain the naval deployment by rotating ships in and out of the region.
