Georgia sees rise in revenues from wine sales

Georgia exported 54.5 million liters of wine worth $156.7 million to 61 countries in the first half of 2024, TurkicWorld reports via the country's National Wine Agency.

According to the agency, sales revenue from Georgian wine climbed by 24 percent and export volumes by 26 percent, respectively.

A significant increase in the export of Georgian wine was recorded to Poland, where 3.1 million liters were exported (an increase of 19 percent), the US - 654,000 liters (53 percent), Germany - 674,000 liters (34 percent), the UK - 182,500 liters (28 percent), Canada - 121,300 liters (110 percent), and Tükiye - 239,200 liters (47 percent).

In addition, according to the statistics, 23.4 million liters of alcoholic beverages were exported to 45 countries, an increase of 55 percent compared to the reporting period of 2023. The country earned $132.8 million from the export of alcoholic products (an increase of 59 percent).

In 2023, wine ranked third among goods exported from Georgia and accounted for 4.3 percent of total exports. According to the statistics, last year, 62,300 tons of natural grape wine worth $168.3 million were exported from Georgia to Russia, which is 4.6 percent more than in 2022.
