Georgia extradites internationally wanted Azerbaijani citizen

BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 4. The extradition of an Azerbaijani national, who was on the international wanted list, has been ensured, TurkicWorld reports, referring to the General Prosecutor's Office of Azerbaijan.

It is noted that based on the petition of the General Prosecutor's Office of Azerbaijan, the authorized bodies of Georgia made a decision on the extradition of a citizen of the Republic of Azerbaijan Rauf Kazimov under the requirements of the Convention on Legal Assistance, and Legal Relations in Civil, Family, and Criminal Cases of 22.01.1993.

To delve into details, under Article 178.3.2 of the Criminal Code (fraud committed with significant damage), the Binagadi district prosecutor's office of Baku city established reasonable suspicion of committing a criminal act by Rauf Kazimov. Consequently, a decision was taken to involve him as a defendant and he was declared internationally wanted.

To note, Rauf Kazimov was apprehended on September 3, 2024, in Georgia and transported to Azerbaijan via a special convoy of the Penitentiary Service of the Ministry of Justice of Azerbaijan.
