Baku. TurkicWorld:

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and Tajikistan have engaged in discussions regarding cooperation in the energy sector, TurkicWorld reports.

According to Tajikistan's Ministry of Energy and Water Resources, these discussions took place during a meeting between Minister Daler Juma and Regional Head of Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan for the EBRD Ayten Rustamova.

The sides exchanged views on several projects including CASA-1000, the reconstruction of the Kairakkum hydroelectric plant, efforts to reduce electricity losses in cities such as Dushanbe, Khujand, Bokhtar, and Kulob, the reconstruction of the Sugd-500 substation, and an assessment of Tajikistan's energy market to attract private investments for power sector development.

Special attention was given to financing a joint Tajik-Uzbek project to build two hydroelectric power stations on the Zarafshon river.
