Tajikistan, EBRD discuss solar and hydropower projects development

DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, October 2. Tajikistan and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) discuss development of solar and hydropower projects, TurkicWorld reports.

The issue was discussed during a meeting between Deputy Prime Minister Hakim Khalikzoda and Mark Bowman, Vice President of the EBRD.

"We are ready to continue our cooperation with the bank on projects related to urban infrastructure development, modernization of energy facilities, as well as the construction of reservoirs and water supply systems. We understand the importance of sustainable development and actively promote "green" technologies in our projects. The development of renewable energy sources, particularly solar and hydropower, is a priority for our government," Khalikzoda said.

He noted that the government’s current priorities also include implementing major infrastructure projects that can drive further economic growth. According to the deputy minister, Tajikistan is actively working on modernizing transportation networks to improve logistics and strengthen ties with neighboring countries.

Khalikzoda noted the significant potential of their partnership, expressing confidence that joint projects will yield long-term benefits for both the country and the region.

Since 1993, the EBRD has invested 987 million euro in Tajikistan.
