Uzbekistan, China sign memorandum on purchase of new buses

Uzbekistan and China signed a memorandum of understanding for the purchase of electric buses and buses worth $171 million for 2024–2025, TurkicWorld reports.

According to Uzbekistan's Ministry of Transport, the document was signed at a meeting between Uzbek Morokand Trans 777 LLC (a company engaged in passenger transportation), Chinese Sumec International Technology Trading Co. Ltd., project partners, and local entrepreneurs.

Meanwhile, Uzbekistan Railways signed a contract with Hyundai Rotem for the purchase of electric trains.

Hyundai Rotem will supply Uzbekistan with six high-speed electric trains with a total of 42 cars. In addition, the South Korean company will provide maintenance and repair services for these trains.

The contract for the delivery of Hyundai Rotem electric trains to Uzbekistan is estimated at $195.7 million.

This is the first export of high-speed trains developed using Korean technology in two decades, since the French KTX train was introduced in 2004.
