Turkmenistan and Iran discuss stretching duty period of Artyk-Lotfabad customs posts

Turkmenistan discussed with Iran the extension of the working hours of the Artyk-Lotfabad customs posts, TurkicWorld reports.

According to the official source, a Turkmen delegation consisting of representatives of the customs, border, and migration services, the Turkmenawtoulaglary Agency (Turkmen automobile service) and Turkmendemiryollary Agency (Turkmenistan Railways) visited the customs post in Lotfabad (Razavi Khorasan province, Iran) in order to participate in the second meeting of the border agencies of the two countries.

On the Iranian side, the head and staff of the Lotfabad customs post, the head of the border post, the heads of the relevant departments of the Razavi Khorasan provincial municipality, as well as representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs on passport and visa issues, were present.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the issue of extending the working hours of the Artyk-Lotfabad customs posts in the period from November to January, developing a mechanism for mutual data exchange, and expediting visa processing for truck drivers on both sides.

At the same time, the parties also considered the possibilities of the Lotfabad railway crossing.

A representative of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan informed the participants about the entry into force of the rules on preliminary notification, according to which carriers from June 1, 2024, can submit information to the customs authorities about goods before they are imported into the country.

To note, the Turkmenistan State Customs Service implements state policies to control the country's customs system and comply with international customs responsibilities
