Turkmenistan, UN Human Rights explore expansion of co-op

ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, September 5. Turkmenistan’s Deputy Foreign Minister Ahmet Gurbanov and Regional Representative of the UN Human Rights for Central Asia (OHCHR) Matilda Bogner have met to discuss enhancing the partnership, focusing on advancing human rights initiatives, implementing key national action plans, TurkicWorld reports via the foreign ministry of Turkmenistan.

During the meeting, Gurbanov and Bogner reviewed the work of the Interdepartmental Commission on Ensuring the Fulfillment of International Human Rights Obligations and International Humanitarian Law.

They also assessed progress on several significant national action plans: the National Action Plan on Human Rights for 2021-2025, the National Action Plan for Gender Equality for 2021-2025, and the National Action Plan for the Realization of Children's Rights for 2023-2028.

The discussion evaluated dialogues with the Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women and the Committee on the Rights of the Child. Both sides pledged to implement these conversations' recommendations..

Additionally, the sides expressed a mutual interest in broadening their cooperation with the UN in the area of human rights education, aiming to further strengthen Turkmenistan’s human rights framework and overall regional impact.
