Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan ink several documents on cooperation

Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan have signed 17 documents on cooperation, TurkicWorld reports.

According to the information, the signing took place following negotiations between the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, and the President of Kyrgyzstan, Sadyr Zhaparov.

The leaders of Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan signed a joint statement on the further deepening and expansion of relations through a comprehensive strategic partnership.

In particular, the following documents were signed:

- intergovernmental agreement on resort and recreational facilities located in the Issyk-Kul region of Kyrgyzstan;

- protocol on amending the intergovernmental agreement on the mutual travel of citizens;

- protocol on the completion of bilateral negotiations on Uzbekistan's accession to the World Trade Organization;

- protocol on cooperation in the field of construction activities;

- protocol on cooperation in the fields of labor, employment, and migration;

- protocol on cooperation in the field of culture and art;

- protocol on cooperation in the field of public service;

- plan of measures to increase mutual trade for 2024–2030;

- a plan of practical measures for the development of cooperation in the field of physical culture and sports for 2024–2026;

- “road map” on further development of cooperation in the sphere of agriculture and food supply for 2024–2026;

- an action plan for the development of cooperation between the cities of Tashkent and Bishkek for 2024–2026;

- Memorandum between the Institute of Strategic and Interregional Studies under the President of Uzbekistan and the National Institute of Strategic Initiatives under the President of Kyrgyzstan and others.

To note, the volume of trade turnover between Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan from January to May 2024 reached $294.3 million. This figure is 42.8 percent less compared to the same period last year ($420.4 million from January through May 2023).

The exports of Uzbekistan to Kyrgyzstan amounted to $195.3 million, and the volume of imports from Kyrgyzstan to Uzbekistan reached $99 million.
