BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 6. Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, and Kazakhstan plan to build a 2,450-kilometer-long direct current power transmission line within the framework of the "green" electricity transfer project, the Minister of Investment, Industry, and Trade of Uzbekistan Laziz Kudratov told TurkicWorld
"Now we are actively working on the preparation of the feasibility study of the project. Within the framework of this project, it is planned that DC power transmission lines will pass through Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, and Georgia, with access to European markets," he emphasized.
Laziz Kudratov also mentioned that Uzbekistan, in turn, is actively developing wind power generation projects, especially in the Republic of Karakalpakstan, with a total capacity of up to 10,000 MW. Soon, it is planned to finalize the draft Intergovernmental Agreement on the implementation of this ambitious project.
To note, the heads of the Ministries of Energy of Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, and Uzbekistan signed a memorandum of cooperation on the interconnection of energy systems of the republics within the framework of the Tashkent International Investment Forum on May 1.
The purpose of the signed memorandum is to define the basic conditions of cooperation within the framework of the project on the interconnection of energy systems of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan.
The document assumes that the parties intend to explore the possibility of connecting the energy systems by laying a high-voltage cable along the Caspian Sea bed and in the territory of other countries with the implementation of the most optimal from technical and economic points of view trade in "green" energy from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan.
