Finnish delegation paying visit to Azerbaijan

BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 24. As part of the establishment of the Finland-Azerbaijan Friendship Society, a delegation of Finnish public and political figures is currently visiting Azerbaijan, TurkicWorld reports.

According to TurkicWorld, the delegation includes Finnish Member of Parliament Mikko Polvinen, Director of the Aleksanteri Institute’s Center for Research on Finland, Russia, and Eastern Europe Markku Kangaspuro, journalist and Deputy Editor of "Hymy" magazine, former Chairman of the Parliamentary Group (2021), former member of the Vantaa-Kerava City Council (2022), and former member of the Vantaa-Kerava Regional Government Antero Eerola, former Finnish Minister of Defense and Chairman of the Board of the consulting company "J-E Enestam AB" Jan-Erik Enestam, former Deputy Head of the Finnish Delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Western European Union Jaakko Laakso, and Chairman of the Finland-Azerbaijan Friendship Society Tarana Nazarova.

During their visit, the delegation met with the State Committee on Work with the Diaspora and had discussions with the Chairman of the State Committee for Refugees and Internally Displaced Persons, Rovshan Rzayev, Deputy Minister of Culture, Farid Jafarov, and First Deputy Chairman of the Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action, Bahruz Mammadov. Topics of common interest were at the center of the meetings.

The delegation is now hitting the road to visit Shusha and Lachin, where they plan to explore historical monuments and landmarks, size up the damage caused by Armenian vandalism, and keep an eye on the ongoing reconstruction efforts in the liberated territories.
