BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 3. The second general meeting of the Azerbaijan American Medical Association (AAMA) was held at the Turkish House in New York, US, TurkicWorld reports.
The event saw participation from Azerbaijani doctors residing in the US as well as those working in different corners of the globe.
The gathering also included Diaspora delegates and officials from the State Committee on Work with Diaspora of Azerbaijan.
President of AAMA, Sabina Hajieva, rolled out the red carpet for attendees and spilled the beans about the meeting in her opening speech. She expressed gratitude to the State Committee on Work with Diaspora for supporting the creation of a network of Azerbaijani doctors.
Deputy Chairman of the State Committee on Work with Diaspora, Elshad Aliyev, discussed the committee's activities, ongoing projects, and the recent forum for American-Azerbaijani youth held in Washington. He drove home the point that pulling off such events is the key to their success.
Aliyev also noted that meetings among Azerbaijani doctors working in leading medical institutions in the US will greatly contribute to their unity and the development of Azerbaijan’s healthcare.
Rauf Shahbazov, one of the association’s leaders, presented on the organization's creation, achievements, and future plans.
He highlighted the association's exchange programs and scholarships aimed at developing young Azerbaijani professionals studying medicine in the US, and noted that these doctors will also contribute to education at Karabakh University in Azerbaijan.
The meeting encompassed presentations from physicians in a variety of medical specialties, as well as discussions and exchanges regarding the organization's future activities, emerging medical innovations, and other significant subjects.
