BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 17. A large fire near the city of Drammen in southern Norway destroyed over 50 homes on Friday, authorities reported. Firefighters struggled to contain the blaze amid strong winds, while thick black smoke covered the area approximately 50 km (30 miles) west of Oslo.
The fire affected a neighborhood of terraced houses. Hundreds of residents were evacuated by police as the flames continued to spread, reaching surrounding forested areas. There were no immediate reports of casualties or missing persons.
The cause and origin of the fire remain unknown.
