Kyrgyzstan discusses EU airlines blacklist withdrawal with European Commission

BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, October 29. Kyrgyzstan and the European Commission kicked around the idea of getting Kyrgyzstan's airlines off the EU's blacklist, TurkicWorldreports.

The issue was addressed during a meeting in Brussels between Daniyar Bostanov, Director of the State Civil Aviation Agency of Kyrgyzstan, and Peter Sorensen, Deputy Head of the Aviation Safety Unit at the European Commission.

Bostanov presented a report on the implementation of new programs, inspector training, and updates to aviation infrastructure.

In turn, Sorensen commended Kyrgyzstan's achievements since July 2024, confirming that the country is meeting international standards.

The European delegation received documentation to include Kyrgyzstan in the upcoming annual EU Flight Safety Report, set to be released at the end of November. They also discussed the potential for advisory support from the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), with inspector visits anticipated in early 2025.

Kyrgyzstan's airlines have been on the EU blacklist since 2006, primarily due to the limited capacity of the country’s authorities to fulfill their oversight responsibilities in the aviation sector.
