Kyrgyzstan sees growth in remittances from US

BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, July 16. The volume of remittances from the United States to Kyrgyzstan amounted to $6.3 million in May 2024, TurkicWorld reports.

According to National Bank of Kyrgyzstan, compared to the same months in 2023, the volume of remittances increased by 42.5 percent.

At the same time, the volume of remittances from the US from January through May 2024 increased by 41.9 percent - up to $27 million.

Meanwhile, at the end of 2023, the volume of transfers from the US decreased by 17.5 percent - to $45.3 million.

Furthermore, by the end of last year, the volume of money transfers to the country amounted to $2.706 billion, which is 12.3 percent, or $380.4 million, less than in 2022.

The majority of the money came from CIS countries, totaling $2.550 billion. Specifically, $2.531 billion came from Russia, and $16.7 million came from Kazakhstan.
