BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 16. Azerbaijan plans to export a total of 25 billion cubic meters of gas, with 9.8 billion cubic meters designated for Türkiye and 12.5 billion cubic meters for Europe in 2024, Azerbaijan’s Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov said during today's meeting with colleagues from Turkic-speaking countries in Bishkek, TurkicWorld reports.
"The energy alliance between Azerbaijan and Türkiye significantly contributes to the energy security of many states. Alongside the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline, the Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum pipeline, TANAP, and the Southern Gas Corridor are also developing.
In 2023 and over the first eight months of this year, these pipelines delivered a total of 41 million tons of oil and 37 billion cubic meters of gas to Türkiye and global markets," Shahbazov explained.
He also highlighted the importance of the 2023 agreement for transporting Kazakh oil via BTC, noting that two million tons of this oil have been transported through Baku to global markets so far.
"Gradually increasing these volumes demonstrates Azerbaijan’s unifying role between Central Asia, Türkiye, and Europe. Our energy cooperation with Turkic-speaking countries is not only progressing but also driving the realization of new projects and regional initiatives," the minister noted.
In this context, he mentioned the green energy corridor projects: "Caspian-Black Sea-Europe", "Azerbaijan-Kazakhstan-Uzbekistan," and "Azerbaijan- Türkiye -Europe" (via Nakhchivan).
"Implementing these projects will transform Turkic-speaking countries into key players in supplying clean energy and support the energy transition in Eurasia. In addition to connecting our countries' rich energy potential and power systems, these corridors aim to become a unified 'green energy platform,'" added the minister.
