BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 20. A development path in the field of renewable (green) energy in Azerbaijan and Latvia has been discussed during a meeting between Azerbaijan's Minister of Energy Parviz Shahbazov and his Latvian counterpart Kaspars Melnis at COP29, a source in the country's Ministry of Energy told TurkicWorld
The meeting also discussed the importance of energy initiatives during Azerbaijan's COP29 presidency, as well as the country’s production and export projects in the field of energy security and energy transition across a broad geographic coverage.
Besides, the meeting pointed out that the share of renewable energy sources in the installed electricity capacity, through wind and solar energy projects, will increase to 33 percent by 2027 and 35.5 percent by 2030, reflecting the high dynamics of the green energy sector's development in the country.
The meeting also featured a wide exchange of views on the supply of green energy and 'green' gas from Azerbaijan and Central Asia to Europe and Türkiye, as well as the use of energy storage systems to enhance the stability of renewable energy sources.
Additionally, Latvia's experience in renewable energy was highlighted, and the prospects for cooperation in the energy sector were assessed during the meeting.
