France Emmanuel Macron G7 Crude oil Diesel Oil reserves

France says G7 members will offer up to 100 million barrels of diesel and crude oil to each other

BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 2. France has agreed with other G7 members to continue coordinating measures aimed at supporting energy supplies and facilitating the movement of shipments through the Strait of Hormuz, French President Emmanuel Macron said.

Macron said G7 countries intend to make up to 100 million barrels of diesel and crude oil available to one another over the next four months as part of efforts to address energy supply pressures.

“It has been agreed to continue coordinating actions to help facilitate the exit of shipments from the Strait of Hormuz,” Macron said, according to Reuters.

He also said G7 members had agreed that there would be no restrictions on diesel exports between participating countries.

The announcement comes amid disruption to energy shipments through the Strait of Hormuz, a major route for global oil and gas supplies.

The initiative follows US President Donald Trump’s announcement that European countries had agreed to immediately release a “massive” volume of their diesel reserves.

The G7 measures are intended to strengthen coordination among member states and provide additional flexibility in energy supplies over the coming months.
