Iran oil prices Strait of Hormuz Oil exports Crude oil

Oil flows through Strait of Hormuz fall 60 percent over two days, Iranian media reports

BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 7. Oil flows through the Strait of Hormuz have fallen by about 60 percent over the past two days, according to Iranian media, as tensions surrounding the strategic waterway continue to disrupt regional energy shipments.

Iran’s Tasnim news agency reported that crude oil flows through the strait have dropped to around 3.8 million barrels per day, compared with a weekly average of approximately 9.3 million barrels per day.

The reported decline comes amid continued tensions over control of the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most important oil transit routes.

An adviser to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has said that the strait remains under Iran’s “full control” and will remain closed until the United States accepts Tehran’s demands.

The adviser also claimed that the amount of oil currently being smuggled out of the strait is “very small”.

The latest figures reported by Iranian media indicate a significant reduction in oil movements through the waterway, potentially adding further pressure to already strained global energy markets.
