Jordan prepares $15 billion investment portfolio for Jordan-EU Investment Conference

BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 19. Jordan is preparing an investment portfolio worth nearly $15 billion for the upcoming Jordanian-European Investment Conference, aiming to attract European capital, transform cooperation with the European Union into practical projects and support job creation under the Economic Modernisation Vision.

The portfolio, covering 15 sectors and subsectors, will be presented to European investors during the conference scheduled for November 19 at the King Hussein bin Talal Convention Centre at the Dead Sea.

The event will be held under the patronage of King Abdullah II and attended by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.

The conference is designed as a platform connecting investment-ready projects with European investors and financial institutions.

According to estimates from Jordan’s Ministry of Investment, the largest portion of the proposed opportunities is concentrated in energy and mining, with 10 projects valued at around $7.1 billion (€6.2 billion).

These projects include natural gas, hydropower, wind energy, green hydrogen, battery storage, solar power, as well as opportunities related to rare earth elements, silica sand and basalt resources.

Transport projects represent another major segment, with opportunities worth approximately $3.56 billion (€3.1 billion), including light rail and national railway projects.

The portfolio also includes four logistics projects valued at around $1.61 billion (€1.4 billion), covering the Jaber Border Centre, Al Madouna Logistics Centre, Maan Dry Port and Mafraq Development Zone.

Jordan will also present tourism projects worth about $1.08 billion (€940 million), including Amrah Entertainment City, the Abdali Conference Centre and the Aqaba Youth Camp.

Additional opportunities include $442 million (€385 million) in water-sector projects and nine projects worth approximately $265 million (€231 million) in industry and circular economy sectors, including manufacturing, electric vehicle assembly, phosphate chemicals, agriculture and clean technology.

Jordanian authorities said preparations for the conference are focused on ensuring that investment opportunities presented during the event are converted into actual projects.

Crown Prince Hussein reviewed preparations for the conference during a meeting in August, stressing the need to offer targeted opportunities in strategic sectors and accelerate efforts to improve the investment environment.

The Crown Prince also emphasized cooperation between the public and private sectors to remove investment obstacles and strengthen business ties between Jordan and the European Union.

Jordan’s government and Investment Council have continued reviewing proposed projects, incentives and preparations to ensure the conference reflects the country’s investment potential and international standing.
