Saudi Arabia Yemen Houthis Red Sea Bahri Amzan

Saudi shipping company Bahri confirms Amzan vessel attacked in Red Sea

BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 24. Saudi Arabia’s national shipping company Bahri has confirmed that one of its vessels, the Amzan, was attacked while sailing in the Red Sea.

In a statement shared on social media, Bahri said all crew members aboard the vessel were safe and that no injuries had been reported following the attack.

The company did not immediately provide further details about the extent of damage to the Amzan or the precise circumstances surrounding the incident.

Earlier, Yemen’s Houthi group claimed responsibility for targeting the vessel, saying it had attacked the Amzan with ballistic missiles.

Bahri’s confirmation establishes that the vessel was attacked, while the Houthi claim regarding the weapons used and responsibility for the incident has not been independently verified.

The incident comes amid continuing concerns over maritime security in and around the Red Sea, a strategically important route for international trade and energy shipments.

Repeated attacks on commercial shipping in the region have increased risks for vessels and placed additional pressure on shipping companies operating along major maritime routes.
