BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 24. Lebanese President Joseph Aoun has briefed Prime Minister Nawaf Salam on the outcome of his recent visit to Washington, where senior US officials reaffirmed their support for the Lebanese Armed Forces and expressed commitment to implementing a framework aimed at securing a full Israeli withdrawal from southern Lebanon.
According to a statement issued by the Lebanese Presidency, Aoun discussed his meetings with US President Donald Trump, Secretary of State Marco Rubio and other senior American officials. During the talks, Washington reiterated its support for Lebanon's military institutions and pledged continued assistance across several economic, security and development sectors.
The presidency said Aoun stressed the importance of completing Israel's withdrawal from all Lebanese villages and towns up to the internationally recognized southern border. He described the objective as being consistent with a framework formula discussed during his meetings in Washington.
Prime Minister Nawaf Salam also briefed the president on his recent visit to southern Lebanon, including the western town of Zoutar, following Israel's withdrawal from the area.
According to the presidency, Salam reaffirmed the government's commitment to supporting residents in southern Lebanon by ensuring access to essential services, strengthening their presence in their communities and helping preserve their livelihoods.
The discussions come as Lebanon continues diplomatic efforts to stabilize its southern border while seeking broader international support for reconstruction, security and economic recovery.
