BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 23. France’s Foreign Ministry has condemned the attacks on Saudi oil tankers in the Red Sea by Yemen’s Houthi movement. A spokesperson said the attacks are “irresponsible and a serious escalation.”
The Houthis, who control an estimated 80 percent of Yemen’s population, attacked two Saudi tankers on Thursday and had previously imposed a maritime embargo on Saudi Arabia, claiming it was a response to an unjust siege of Yemen by Riyadh.
The ministry’s statement follows recent Saudi strikes on Sanaa airport and emphasizes the need to protect international shipping and regional stability.
