BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 20, US President Donald Trump has said that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu “will not be arrested, in any way, shape, or form” while he is in the United States.
Trump made the statement in a social media post following comments by New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, who said he was consulting with city authorities over the possibility of arresting Netanyahu if he visits New York for the United Nations General Assembly in September.
The issue is linked to international legal proceedings and political disputes surrounding Netanyahu’s possible travel abroad. Trump’s statement represents a rejection of any potential move by US authorities to detain the Israeli prime minister while on American territory.
Netanyahu’s possible visit to New York for the UN General Assembly has drawn attention amid continuing debates over international law and diplomatic immunity.
