Middle East Hamas Gaza strip Security ceasefire

Hamas says Interior Ministry staff will remain in place to maintain security

BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 6. Hamas has announced that employees of the Interior Ministry in the Gaza Strip will continue carrying out their duties to prevent a security vacuum, despite the movement's decision to dissolve the administrative body governing the enclave.

According to Ismail al-Thawabta, Director of the Government Media Office in Gaza, all Interior Ministry personnel will remain at their posts to ensure public order and security during the transitional period.

The announcement comes after Hamas said it had dissolved the governing body responsible for administering the Gaza Strip and transferred leadership to a team of technocrats. The move is part of the arrangements outlined under the US-brokered ceasefire agreement.
