OpenAI delays public release of GPT-5.6 model following US government request

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 26. OpenAI has announced that it is postponing the public rollout of its GPT-5.6 artificial intelligence model following a request from the US government.

According to the company, the model will initially be available only to a limited group of pre-vetted partners whose information has been shared with US authorities.

TurkicWorld reports that OpenAI said the decision was made amid the US government's efforts to secure early access to frontier artificial intelligence models.

The company noted that concerns in Washington have grown over the potential national security risks posed by increasingly powerful AI systems. As a result, policymakers have urged technology companies to implement stronger safety measures and safeguards before making advanced AI models widely available.
