Israel Lebanon Donald Trump Hezbollah Itamar Ben Gvir ceasefire

Ben-Gvir says Israel can reject Trump, opposes Lebanon ceasefire

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 23. Israel’s far-right National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir has said that Israel is capable of rejecting calls from US President Donald Trump and should not agree to a ceasefire in Lebanon.

TurkicWorld reports that speaking to Israel’s Arutz Sheva media, Ben-Gvir said Israel could “of course” say no to Trump if necessary, indicating that US pressure should not determine Israeli security decisions.

He also strongly rejected the idea of a ceasefire in Lebanon, stating that there should be “no ceasefire under any circumstances,” amid ongoing regional tensions involving Hezbollah and cross-border fighting.

Ben-Gvir further commented on domestic politics, saying the current right-wing governing coalition could remain in power after upcoming elections, though he acknowledged that maintaining it would require effort.

The remarks reflect internal divisions within Israel’s political leadership over the Lebanon conflict and relations with Washington.
