Japan-linked vessel safely passes Strait of Hormuz, says PM

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 19. Japan’s Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi has confirmed that a Japan-linked vessel stranded in the Gulf has safely transited the Strait of Hormuz and is now en route to Japan.

TurkicWorld reports that in a post on X, Takaichi noted that three Japanese crew members were on board the vessel, identified by Reuters as a Liberian-flagged crude oil tanker owned by Japan’s Kyoei Tanker.

She added that with this passage, all Japan-linked vessels carrying Japanese crew have now exited the Gulf, though 37 other Japan-linked ships remain awaiting safe transit.

The Prime Minister reaffirmed that Japan will continue all diplomatic efforts to ensure the free and secure navigation of vessels through the Strait of Hormuz, stressing the importance of maintaining stability in the vital maritime corridor.
