Trump defends Iran deal, touts markets and criticises opponents

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 18. US President Donald Trump has defended the US-Iran memorandum of understanding, pushing back against critics who argue his administration has not taken a sufficiently hard line on Tehran.

TurkicWorld reports that in a post on his social media platform Truth Social, Trump pointed to strong financial market performance and declining oil prices as evidence that his approach is producing positive outcomes.

“These fools, who think I haven’t been tough enough on Iran, when the Stock Market Just Hit A RECORD HIGH, and Oil prices are ‘tumbling’ down, are either jealous, bad people, or stupid,” he wrote.

The comments come amid ongoing debate in Washington over the terms of the agreement with Iran, with some US policymakers questioning whether the memorandum delivers sufficient strategic and security gains for the United States.

Supporters of the deal argue it could reduce regional tensions and stabilize energy markets, while critics remain concerned about enforcement mechanisms and long-term commitments from Tehran.
