Gantz calls Iran-US agreement a ‘strategic failure’ for Israel

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 15. Israeli opposition leader Benny Gantz has sharply criticised the emerging agreement between Iran and the United States, describing it as a “strategic failure” that could have long-term implications for Israel’s security.

TurkicWorld reports that in a statement published on social media, Gantz argued that the deal would force Israel to engage in diplomatic, military and legal challenges in the years ahead. The former defence minister warned that the agreement could limit Israel’s strategic flexibility in dealing with regional security threats.

Gantz also rejected any arrangement that could restrict Israel’s freedom of action in Lebanon or lead to a withdrawal that, in his view, would endanger communities in northern Israel. He stressed that national security considerations must remain a central component of any regional diplomatic framework.

The criticism adds to growing opposition within Israel to the preliminary agreement. Several Israeli political figures, including members of the governing coalition and opposition parties, have voiced concerns about the potential impact of the deal on Israel’s security interests.

Among the most vocal critics are National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir and Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, both of whom have expressed opposition to the agreement since its announcement.
