Aoun welcomes Iran-US deal, hopes it will support Lebanon’s recovery

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 15. Lebanese President Joseph Aoun has welcomed the agreement reached between Iran and the United States, praising provisions that include a halt to military actions affecting Lebanon and expressing hope for greater regional stability.

TurkicWorld reports that in a statement released by the Lebanese presidency, Aoun said he appreciated the agreement’s recognition of Lebanon’s unique circumstances and its emphasis on the country’s security and stability as essential components of any broader effort to promote peace in the Middle East.

The Lebanese leader noted that the memorandum reflects respect for Lebanon’s sovereignty and national interests at a time when the country continues to face significant economic and security challenges.

Aoun expressed hope that the agreement would contribute to stability across the region, safeguard the sovereignty of states and protect the rights of their peoples. He also said the deal could provide an opportunity for Lebanon to focus on reconstruction efforts and restoring normal life after years of conflict and instability.

According to the president, a secure and stable environment would allow the Lebanese people to concentrate on rebuilding damaged infrastructure, strengthening state institutions and advancing economic recovery.
