Recep Tayyip Erdogan: We continue to strengthen ties with African countries

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 3. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan discussed opportunities for cooperation with Niger President Abdurrahman Tchiani during bilateral meetings aimed at enhancing relations between Turkey, Azerbaijan, and African countries.

TurkicWorld reports that the discussions covered a wide range of sectors, including agriculture, energy, security, defense industry, trade, investment, education, healthcare, and infrastructure. Bilateral agreements were signed to strengthen the legal and institutional frameworks of these relations.

Erdoğan highlighted the role of projects such as the Friendship Hospital and Friendship School, constructed through the Finance and Development Agency and related organizations, in improving social infrastructure in the region. These initiatives notably enhance healthcare and education opportunities for women.

In education, thousands of students in the capital’s schools benefit from these programs, while over 500 Nigerien students pursue higher education in Turkey, acting as bridges for bilateral ties. Erdoğan also emphasized support for joint efforts with friendly nations to combat terrorist organizations threatening security in the Sahel region. Defense cooperation, including training, intelligence, and collaboration with military-industrial companies, was also discussed.

Niger President Abdurrahman Tchiani noted that Erdoğan’s 2013 official visit marked a historic turning point in bilateral cooperation, contributing to significant outcomes in security and social development. Erdoğan hosted a formal lunch in honor of the Nigerien president as part of the visit.
