BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 28.Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has addressed the nation on the occasion of August 30 – Victory Day, marking the 104th anniversary of the Great Victory that played a decisive role in Türkiye’s War of Independence.
Erdoğan congratulated the Turkish nation, Turkish Cypriots and Turkish citizens living around the world on Victory Day, describing August 30 as one of the most important milestones of the National Struggle.
The Turkish president said the victory in the Battle of the Commander-in-Chief once again confirmed that the lands on which the Turkish nation had lived freely for a thousand years were its eternal homeland.
According to Erdoğan, the Great Victory also paved the way for the establishment of the Republic of Türkiye and demonstrated to the world that the Turkish nation would never accept subjugation.
He said the determination, courage and resolve demonstrated by the nation 104 years ago despite severe difficulties remain a major source of motivation for Türkiye today.
Erdoğan noted that Türkiye continues to advance towards its goals in fields ranging from energy and the defence industry to science, technology and foreign policy, drawing confidence and inspiration from its history.
Referring to growing wars, conflicts, crises and political uncertainty around the world, Erdoğan said Türkiye would continue to support justice, law, peace and stability despite provocations by those who benefit from instability.
He also stressed that Türkiye seeks to stand against oppression regardless of its source and support those facing injustice, adding that the country would not abandon this approach even when it requires paying a price.
Erdoğan thanked citizens contributing to the construction of the “Century of Türkiye” in unity and solidarity and extended greetings to Türkiye’s friends and “brotherly peoples” in different parts of its cultural geography.
Concluding his message, Erdoğan commemorated Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, commander-in-chief of the Great Victory, and his comrades-in-arms, paid tribute to Türkiye’s fallen soldiers and veterans, and congratulated the nation on August 30 Victory Day.
