BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 7. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has said the newly signed defence pact with Saudi Arabia and Pakistan is not directed against any country and is open to friendly nations seeking peace, stability and prosperity in the region.
In a post on the Turkish social media platform NSosyal, Erdogan said the agreement is based on the principle of collective deterrence and is intended to strengthen cooperation among the three countries.
According to the Turkish president, the pact will enhance security and defence cooperation, promote joint defence industry projects, and expand collaboration in counterterrorism efforts.
Erdogan added that the agreement is designed to contribute to regional peace and stability rather than confrontation.
The remarks come after similar statements from Turkish and Saudi officials, who have emphasized that the trilateral defence agreement is not aimed at establishing a military bloc or targeting any specific country.
