BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 28. Francesca Albanese, the UN Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the occupied Palestinian territories, has renewed her call for governments to suspend trade with Israel and impose an arms embargo.
Albanese said states should have acted sooner in response to warnings raised by those expressing concern over developments in the region.
Her comments came in response to remarks by a former Israeli ambassador to France, who urged the public to acknowledge that there are "genocidaires" within the Israeli government.
"It is never too late to stop it. Cut trade with Israel now. Arms embargo now," Albanese said.
The UN expert reiterated that governments should take immediate political and economic measures, including halting arms transfers and trade, in line with her recommendations.
Israel has repeatedly rejected allegations of genocide and has strongly criticized Albanese's statements and previous reports.
