Lebanese leaders review security situation and preparations for next round of talks with Israel

BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 30. Lebanese President Joseph Aoun met with Prime Minister Nawaf Salam to review the latest security developments in the country and discuss upcoming negotiations involving Israel, according to a statement issued by the Lebanese presidency.

TurkicWorld reports.that the two officials examined the overall situation in Lebanon, with particular focus on developments in the south amid continued Israeli military operations.

According to the presidency, the discussion addressed the situation in the districts of Tyre and Nabatieh, which have been affected by ongoing attacks and repeated warnings urging residents to leave their homes and places of work.

The leaders also reviewed the outcome of a recent meeting in Washington involving Lebanese, American and Israeli military delegations.

The statement said the Lebanese delegation reiterated its commitment to prioritising a ceasefire and reducing tensions along the border.

In addition, Aoun and Salam discussed preparations for the next round of negotiations with Israel, which is scheduled to take place on June 2 and 3.

The consultations come amid continued diplomatic efforts aimed at reducing tensions and preventing further escalation along the Lebanon-Israel frontier.
